This project, formerly a dormitory for medical staff at the Taipei Municipal United Hospital’s Yang-Ming branch, has been transformed into a day care center for elderly residents with dementia. The existing partitions, dense plumbing, low floor heights, and regulatory compliance all presented challenges that needed to be overcome. The interior is divided into four main areas:

The “Administrative Area” includes offices, a multi-functional conference room, and a welcoming yet secure entrance lobby.

The “Service Area” includes a consultation room, a nursing station, a light room, a kitchen, and accessible public restrooms.

The “Common Activity Area” includes a well-lit sofa lounge area, a multi-functional activity area with flexible partitions that also serves as a hands-on learning area, an exercise area, and a walking path. These areas are equipped with concealed doors for security.

The “Unit Care Area” features semi-open partitions with individual lockers underneath, providing practicality and convenient access for staff.
