Inspired by Old Trees and the Environment
The project capitalizes on the site’s inherently favorable orientation and the green tunnel formed by the neighboring trees. Combined with the project’s functional and traffic-oriented layout, the topography naturally shapes the project’s spatial structure.
One Book, One World
From a distance, the building resembles a book about to be opened; the book-like sunshades facing south form a dazzling array of bookshelves. In contrast to the densely packed east, west, and south facades, the north facade presents a full glass curtain facing the green belt, symbolizing the vast and rich world beyond the page. Like the shade provided by the banyan tree’s fibrous roots, it also symbolizes the inheritance of knowledge.
Reading for Everyone, Everywhere
Themed reading spaces designed for each community provide everyone with their own dedicated reading corner. The entrance is a neighborhood-style reading space, echoing the old trees. The high-ceilinged reading hall accommodates online groups while filtering out the outside noise. The second-floor periodicals and children’s area offer both comfortable browsing and children’s safety. The third floor houses the main library and reading area, offering a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The fourth floor offers a tranquil study space bathed in natural light.
