For years, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) has longed for a space to honor the generosity of its organ donors. After much searching, they ultimately chose Jingfu Tunnel, a perfect intersection between the old and new hospital areas. The spirit of the venue was also inspired by the colorful Tianmu glaze works of artist Chen Kunchuan, the organ recipient.
Gazing at the starry-like works, we discover that the interweaving of glaze and light and shadow creates a flowing, ethereal beauty, transporting us to a fantastical world within the vast galaxy. The radiant light of “one work, one starry sky” is like the vibrant journey of life.
We also created a starry sky for this spatial work. The generosity of organ donors, like a sky full of stars, warmly and silently protects future generations. By defining and enclosing the space with free-form seating components, this space becomes more than just a corner of a busy passageway, offering a stable experience and opportunity for people to pause, admire, remember, and pay tribute.
