The land has been transformed into Longtan Elementary School, a school over a century old and steeped in history. While the existing school building no longer meets modern standards and needs to be demolished and rebuilt, the Japanese-style wooden dormitories and abundant greenery are undoubtedly treasures of the campus and should be preserved as much as possible. The old school building's energy-efficient orientation and manageable layout are also worth preserving.
After on-site investigation and repeated dialectical evaluation, we boldly decided to retain the original school building configuration and relocate the school gate. The original configuration not only provides clear zoning and energy conservation, but also preserves the ecological environment for many years and evokes alumni's childhood memories.
The school gate has been relocated to the wider street side. From the spacious entrance plaza, children can directly see the school's oldest banyan tree, ensuring their safety. The landmark tower and ecological plaza at the street corner have been integrated with the Japanese-style dormitory to form a school history exhibition area. Of course, the old school gate, full of stories, remains, but it has been retired as a side entrance.
Contemporary teaching elements: corner learning, digital technology, environmental education, etc., are all invisibly integrated into the old configuration. The scattered balconies, corridors, and activity corners satisfy the children's curiosity and allow them to make different discoveries in their daily lives.
