The site for this project is located in Linkou Old Street. Currently, part of the site is a tin-roofed market, while the majority is a motorcycle parking lot. A nearly century-old tree stands on the site. The site has a rich texture, but the terrain is tortuous, with high and low elevations, and the complex functions make configuration quite challenging.

After evaluation, the original market entrance was retained as the new entrance, recreating a distinct, modern, yet traditional and humane entrance. A park plaza was created next to the old tree. Whether entering or exiting the market, or visiting the childcare center, senior citizen daycare center, library, and activity center upstairs, all revolve around a shared local memory: the old tree by the market.

The market itself is equipped with escalators, energy-saving air conditioning, and a sunken, ventilated and lighted plaza, eliminating the dark and damp space. Visitors can enjoy the greenery while shopping, strolling around the old tree plaza and chatting.
