Located in the Yonghe District of New Taipei City, this project site sits adjacent to the lush, green campus of Fuhe Secondary School. The design challenge centered on how to best utilize the surrounding natural scenery while thoughtfully arranging the entrances for both the police station and youth housing, ensuring functional clarity and harmonious spatial relationships.
The core concept of the project is to maximize access to greenery and natural views. All residential units—including both youth housing and police dormitories—are oriented to face the neighboring greenery, creating a calming and refreshing environment for every resident.
To promote interaction and visual diversity, balconies are incorporated into every unit. These balconies, each with distinct designs, form a scattered yet cohesive façade that reflects the dynamic spirit of youth and enhances the building’s identity.
For the public-facing program, the entrance to the Xiulang Police Station is placed strategically at the building’s corner. A vertical green wall not only softens the building’s image but also guides pedestrians toward the entrance of the youth housing, forming a seamless connection between the public and residential zones.
A semi-outdoor staircase within the youth housing is expanded and enhanced with greenery to encourage casual interactions and community engagement. In addition, green roofs and open interior spaces are integrated throughout the project, creating opportunities for shared use, relaxation, and fostering community among residents and the public.
This project strives to become a harmonious urban landmark—combining public service, livable housing, sustainable design, and social connectivity in a vibrant and meaningful way.
