The project site is located in Shezi, Shilin District, Taipei City. The existing Shezi Police Station has been in operation since 1961. On site, there is a large, historic tree designated as protected vegetation by the Department of Cultural Affairs.
To the northeast of the site lies Shezi Park, a green space filled with lush vegetation and frequently used for major community events. The building benefits from an excellent orientation, with a well-situated entrance that enhances accessibility and visibility.
In addition to designing open green lanes and a well-organized functional layout, the project emphasizes the preservation of key site elements to maintain a connection with the community’s collective memory. Notable preserved features include the original brick wall and surrounding vegetation, which together help retain the spirit and history of the site.
