This project is located in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, adjacent to the green campus of Fuhe Secondary School. Surrounded by rich vegetation and open views, the key challenge of the design was how to harmoniously integrate the natural surroundings while carefully arranging the circulation and entrances for both the police station and youth housing.
The central design concept focuses on creating a strong connection between people and nature, allowing every housing unit—whether youth residence or police dormitory—to face the neighboring greenery. This approach enhances the living quality while encouraging a tranquil, open environment. To further activate the space and promote social interaction, each unit is equipped with a balcony, with varied, scattered designs. These balconies not only serve as personal outdoor spaces but also visually express the vibrancy and individuality of youth life.
In response to public needs and accessibility, the entrance to Xiulang Police Station is positioned at the corner of the building, complemented by a vertical green wall that also serves as a visual guide leading to the youth housing entrance. This strategy creates a unified, welcoming gesture for both users and passersby.
The semi-outdoor stairwell of the youth housing is enhanced with green planting and expanded spaces, encouraging casual interaction and spontaneous gathering. Additionally, a green roof and open interior common areas are provided to support further community engagement, offering spaces where residents and visitors can connect, relax, and participate in shared experiences.
In essence, this project goes beyond functional integration—it is a living, breathing community landmark where public service and residential life intersect with nature, interaction, and youthful energy.
